Career
Born on May 26, 1966 in Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture. Saitama Prefectural Urawa Daiichi Girls' High School, Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Hokkaido University. Joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1990. After working at the International Department of the Economic Affairs Bureau, the Kanto Agricultural Policy Bureau, the Economic Planning Agency, the Kinki Agricultural Policy Bureau, and the Minister's Secretariat, she got married in 2000, retired from the Ministry, moved to Oguni-cho, Yamagata Prefecture, where her husband was born, and became Managing Director of Oguni Gas Energy Co., Ltd. In the 2007 House of Councilors election, he was elected leader with the Democratic Party's approval. In 2009, he was appointed as a political official by Yukio Hatoyama, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. After narrowly losing in the 2013 House of Councilors election, she resumed her activities in local agriculture as a member of the JA Women's Division in Oguni Town, Yamagata Prefecture. In 2014, established the Okitama Self-Sufficiency Area Promotion Organization, a general incorporated association, and assumed the position of executive director. He was re-elected as an independent candidate of the opposition party in the 2016 House of Councilors election. In 2018, he was appointed as the head of the parliamentary committee. In 2020, he joined the Democratic Party of Japan and became the Chairman of Political Affairs Research. Appointed as party chief deputy representative in 2021. In the 2020 House of Councilors election, he was elected for the third time with the recognition of the Democratic Party of Japan and became the chairman of the group.
