Career
Born on February 6, 1964 in Yamabe-cho, Higashimurayama-gun, Yamagata Prefecture. In March 1991, he joined Keio University's Faculty of Economics. In April 1991, he joined Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc. In 1997, he served as head office planning department research group chief, and in 2001, he became general secretary of the Tokyo Electric Power Company Labor Union head office general branch. In 2003, he became an executive committee member of the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan. In 2005, he was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and became the first secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Thailand. In 2008, he became Deputy Director-General of the Life and Welfare Bureau, International Directorate-General, and Director-General of the Economic Policy Bureau of the Japan Federation of Labor Unions.In 2015, he became the Secretary-General of the Kanto Electric Power Federation, and in the following year, he became the Central Secretary-General of the Tokyo Electric Power Company Labor Union. In 2019, he served as chairman of the association's central executive committee, chairman of the Kanto Electric Power Federation, and vice chairman of the National Electric Power Federation. In July 2020, elected head of the House of Councilors election.
