Career
Born in Fukui Prefecture on October 20, 1971. Graduated from Fukui Prefectural Ohno High School and the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law. Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the University of Chicago. Waseda University Graduate School, Doctor (PhD). American certified public accountant. Joined the Ministry of Finance in 1994. After serving as chief of the Accounting Bureau, director of the Human Resources Planning Office, director of the Public Relations Office, and visiting researcher at Stanford University, he returned to his hometown of Fukui and was elected as leader of the House of Councilors in 2013. Re-elected in 2019/2019. Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Chairman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Committee, Parliamentary Secretary of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Chairman of the Fisheries Division of the Party, Shinkansen PT member of the ruling party, Secretary General of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Tsuruga-Osaka Development Review Committee, Chief Director of the Economic and Industrial Commission/Resources and Energy Investigation Committee/Abductions Special Committee, Director of the Budget Committee, etc.
