Career

Born September 21, 1970 in Ishikawa Prefecture, raised in Shiga Prefecture. After studying at ICU International Christian University, completed the master's program at SIT Graduate School in the United States. Joined McDonald's Japan Co., Ltd. and worked in the Talent Development Promotion Department of the Human Resources Headquarters. In 2001, he was elected head of the proportional representation (national constituency) election for the House of Councilors. After serving as a political official at the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and as the Liberal Democratic Party's Women's Affairs Bureau, she served as a member of the Environment Committee of the National Institute of Japan. In 2014, she was appointed as the first Minister in charge of Women's Empowerment and Minister of State (in charge of countermeasures against the declining birthrate, administrative reform, national civil servant system, regulatory reform, gender equality, consumer and food safety) under Abe Naiaki. After serving as Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party's Policy Council in the House of Councilors, Chief Judge of the Judge Impeachment Court, Director of the Liberal Democratic Party's Public Relations Headquarters, Vice-Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Members of the House of Councilors, Chairman of the Information Monitoring and Review Committee of the House of Councilors, and Chairman of the General Assembly of Members of both Houses of the Liberal Democratic Party, he was appointed as Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party's Aggression Committee. His political credo is to "protect the importance of life, the bonds of family and community, and the dignity of the nation by having both a solid view of the nation and a down-to-earth view of life."
